My Passion for Healthy, Becoming Smiles
I love getting to know my patients on a personal level, learning who they are beyond the dental chair. Building a friendship with each person is important to me and I treat each in my care as if they were a member of my family. No patient is ever a number on a chart in my mind. I recall not just their names, but details of their life: their family, their passions, their stories.
As a dentist, I am allowed to help people I care about attain and maintain optimal oral health and a wonderful smile. Relieving dental discomfort, restoring function, and improving a smile are all acts that improve a person’s life, and I do them every day.
I particularly love helping patients who have dental anxiety overcome their fears. I listen, without judgment, and encourage each person to tell me what scares them. Then we work, together, to find treatment approaches that are right for their needs. This allows them to get the necessary care, which improves their life. It’s an incredible moment when, at the end of a procedure, a previously-reticent patient thanks me and tells me they’re looking forward to coming back.
Education and Continuing Education
Straight out of high school, I enrolled in a special six-year Bachelor of Arts / Doctorate of Dental Surgery program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After receiving my diploma, I then completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in St. Petersburg, FL, through the University of Florida.
Each year I participate in many hours of continuing education (CE). Oral healthcare is a constantly changing field, and my patients trust me to provide the most up-to-date care. Learning about new technologies, methodologies, and dental materials means I’m able to live up to my responsibility to my patients. In addition to attending multiple CE lectures, meetings, and seminars, I’m a member of a Spear Dental Study Club that meets monthly.

Outside the Office
Raised in a small town in Missouri, I moved to Florida after dental school to escape the cold. I’ve lived in South Tampa since 1994 and plan on staying here forever. My husband John and I have two beautiful boys, Parker and Riley. We also have the best dog in the world, Lexi, and a lovely cat, Buffett.
When I’m not working, I’m likely with my family. We love amusement parks, the beach, and boating. I recently started taking Tae Kwon Do classes with my sons, too.
